My Summer Holiday – Part 4 (Kingdom of Waterfalls)

If I can choose a place to stay, it will be Fiordland National Park. (I finally realised one of my childhood dreams: - To visit Milford Sound in Fiordland National Park). This lush and majestic place covers over 3 million acres and is located at the southwest tip of South Island.

However, there are 2 major hazards in this greatest wonder of the earth. This area receives 9 meters of annual rainfall as well as avalanches during the winter. Besides that, this place is very seismological active and is expose to extreme weather that rendered this place uninhabitable. Nevertheless, this is the most beautiful place on earth and there is nowhere else on earth you will see a place such as this.

My visit to Milford Sound was marred by rainy and showery day. So throughout the journey, the beautiful sceneries were shrouded in thick fog and cloud. It turned out to be a blessing in disguise because I get to see the other face of Fiordland National Park and Milford Sound. As I traveled from Te Anau and along the Milford Highway to Milford Sound, I saw hundreds of waterfalls cascading down the steep cliffs and mountains.

The highlight of the trip is of course Milford Sound, despite the heavy rain and strong winds. I managed to capture some of the most stunning views of this mystical place. So here are some of my snapshots.
