The dam that held the Mt Ruapehu crater lake finally gave way and collapsed yesterday sending torrent of water, rocks and earth down the mountain with a powerful force. The pictures look eerily like the scenes of Dante's Peak. It shows how puny we humans are when we compare ourselves to the forces of nature.
