Counting the cost

As the final day of moving draws near, I began to question my judgements and wonder whether I made the right decision to move out. I hate to admit this but I started to miss my current flat a lot.

Cheap rental and fully furnished were the reasons I managed to hang on to this flat for 3 long years. I am Mr Scrooge and my motto is to keep the costs down as much as I can. I'll do whatever it takes to save every penny even if I need to sacrifice my own comfort. Now I would be leaving for a new place, I cringed every time when I think about the costs of moving.

So far I had already pay all these in advance:-
- 3 weeks bond
- 2 weeks rent in advance
- 1 week letting fee
- Mail redirection fee

I had already seen some costs are piling up in the near horizon and makes me shudder with disgust. For the basics I need at least the following:-
- a bed
- sofa
- dining table and chair
- a fridge
- cutleries and kitchen utensils
- phone reconnection fee
- power reconnection fee
- broadband reconnection fee

Also my petrol consumption will skyrocket as well because I would be travelling a longer distance (4 times longer than the current one) to work.

I have been surveying the old furnitures around town for the past few weekends particularly around places like Salvation Army and Hospice Charity stores. I would pay extra attention on items like beds, sofas, dining sets and I would take time to scrutinize every detail. But the mere sight of those second hand furnitures repulse me because they are very old, torn, mouldy and comes with a foetid stench. The old electrical appliances do not sound that appealing as well because they are not worth paying for the price they advertised. So in the end, I just decided to put all these things at the back of my head and tackle about them later. As I am very particular about cleanliness I guess I just have to buy new furnitures and appliances instead.

As the days gone by, I really wonder is it really worth it to fork out so much simoleons to pay for my own comfort? Oh well, I just have to keep moving forward as it's too late to turn back now...

You are just going through the regret phase of any big decision. Surely you knew all about this when you decided to move!

Yes, I had already expected this all along. But I didn't expect to get overwhelmed by it. However, it's about time to think about my own comfort than anything else. I think in the long run, the benefits still outweigh the setbacks. To start with, I can live in a safer and quiet environment as well as enjoy my own privacy. Now that's a plus. :)

At last you're thinking of your own comfort! [answer to marcellous]
At last you'll have peace and quite at your new place. You have to tickle yourself, no-one else will do it for you!
