What is your carbon footprint?

I score 7.351 tonnes per annum. The world target average is 2 tonnes. Which means in order to offset it, I have to do the following:-
  • no heating for my cold and damp home
  • no warm shower
  • do not use electricity
  • no internet/phone
  • no cooking and eat my food raw
  • produce my own food and no meat
  • make my own clothes
  • do my laundry by the creek
  • no shopping (heaven forbid!)
  • do not go to restaurant
  • ditch my car to walk 9 kms to work
  • not fly at all
If that is the case, why not we all just become cavemen?

I began to wonder whether all these carbon trading and carbon offset crap is just another excuse for big corporates to make money?

Anyway, here is the calculator for you to check your scores.

Yup, put on your hair shirt and go and live in a cave!

I loved the Car question. It went from "I own one car" to "I own 10 cars"! Who has 10 cars? :)

The things you list are things you need to do to reduce your carbon footprint. The things that web-site sells you are things you could do (such as planting trees) to offset it.
