Spot the difference?

Outrageous was my first reaction when I saw the news that Apple Inc. is preparing a legal response to Woolworths claiming that the new logo look too similar to their "infamous" brand and will lead to confusion. Hell, even a five year old child can tell that both logos look way different. Does Apple Inc. think that the consumers are so dumb until they cannot tell the difference between the two? This has nothing to do with branding, this is bullying.

On the other hand, Apple Inc. had no qualms about using a logo similar to Apple Records founded by The Beatles in 1960s. Talk about the pot calling the kettle black.

What's next? Is Apple Inc. going to claim patent on the real apples that we are eating? Is Apple Inc. going to claim trademark on food and beverages that uses "apple" as one of the ingredients? Is Apple Inc. going to forbid anyone to name their child Apple? Is Apple Inc. going to claim copyright on every article that mentions the word "apple"? Is Apple Inc. going to ban the usage of all images with "apple" in it? Is Apple Inc. going to sue us for using the word "apple" in our daily conversation and vocabularies?

P.S. - I may incurred the wrath of those die-hard Apple fans for posting this. Not that I care. :p
