Feeling rather melancholy tonight and this song matches my mood perfectly...

Silly song...

Actually, this is a very silly (if not horrible) song. The vocal is certainly not my cup of tea either. But the catchy tunes makes it so irresistible to listen to. After hearing to it once, it stays ringing in my ears over and over again.

You can watch the downbeat and weird looking MTV here as well.

Baby, it's cold outside...

Brrrr...It's 1 C outside at the moment. Which reminds me of the delightful song "Baby, it's cold outside" from the movie Neptune's Daughter. Found a video clip of this song performed by the handsome and dashing Richardo Montalban (Ahh...he is soo gorgeous.../blush) and Esther Williams. Enjoy.

Lyrics:-

I really can't stay
(but baby it's cold outside)
I've got to go away
(but baby it's cold outside)
This evening has been
(been hoping that you'd drop in)
So very nice
(i'll hold your hands, they're just like ice)
My mother will start worry
(beautiful whats your hurry)
My father will be pacing the floor
(listen to the fireplace roar)
So really i'd better scurry
(beautiful please don't hurry)
but maybe just a half a drink more
(put some records on while i pour)
the neighbors might faint
(baby it's bad out there)
say what's in this drink
(no cabs to be had out there)
i wish i knew how
(your eyes are like starlight now)
to break this spell
(i'll take your hat, your hair looks swell)
i ought to say "no, no, no sir"
(mind if i move in closer)
at least i'm gonna say that i tried
(what's the sense in hurtin' my pride)
i really can't stay
(oh baby don't hold out)

both:baby it's cold out side

i simply must go
(but baby it's cold outside)
the answer is no
(but baby it's cold outside)
your welcome has been
(how lucky that you droped in)
so nice and warm
(look out the window at that storm)
my sister will be suspicious
(gosh your lips look delcious)
my brother will be there at the door
(waves upon the tropical shore)
my maiden aunts mind is vicious
(gosh your lips are delicous)
but maybe just a cigarette more
(never such a blizzard before)
i've gotta get home
(but baby you'd freeze out there)
say lend me a coat
(it's up to your knees out there)
you've really been grand
(i thrill when you touch my hand)
but don't you see?
(how can you do this thing to me?)
there's bound to be talk tomorrow
(think of my lifelong sorrow)
at least there will be plenty implied
(if you got namonia and died)
i really can't stay
(get over that old out)

both:baby it's cold
baby it's cold outside

Amazing Susan Boyle...

Time and time again we were reminded to never judge a book by its cover. Who would have thought a 47 year old plain looking unemployed woman (who has a learning disability and teased by others) can stun the entire cynical audience with her melodious voice? But here she is: Susan Boyle - another amazing person with a beautiful voice. Here is a woman who stood up against all odds and prove the critics wrong. As the embedding is disabled by request, you have to click this link to watch the full video and be amazed.

P.S. I cried again while watching this video. So for those of you who are sentimental types like me, you might want to get your Kleenex handy...

Creepy song...

Feeling rather lazy for the last couple of days. I have been confining myself in the flat. Apart from eating, sleeping, cooking and cleaning, nothing exciting really. Of course, I finally get a chance to sit down quietly and read some good books, so it is not that bad after all. :)

At the same time, there is a very old song kept playing in my mind. I have not heard it for more than 15 years and all of sudden, it popped up at the back of my head and replayed over and over again. The lyrics of the song is actually about the sentiments of a forlorn and lonely lady waiting for her lover to come back.

But for some reasons, I just feel that the song is very creepy. It feels so weird and I can feel the hair on the nape of my neck raise every time I listen to it. :-S It has been rumoured that if you play this song in the middle of the night, it will attract some "unwanted guests".

Anyway, here's the creepy song. Accompanying the song is a video created by some amateur.

Sisters - A MV

Another one of the MV dug out from the mid 90s. It was performed by Taiwanese songstress A-mei (Zhang Hui Mei). To me, this song is the answer to Sister Sledge's "We Are Family". It's an upbeat song that celebrates the bonds of sisterhood.

So come along, sisters! Let's sing this song together... :D

Do you want my love?

Not in the mood of writing anything today. Anyway, I managed to dig out this old MV performed by Coco Lee from YouTube. She is such a sassy and sexy girl... :)

Serenading with Joe Hisaishi...

I fell in love with Joe Hisaishi's music after listening to the soundtrack of Spirited Away. His music style is a combination of different genres like minimalist, experimental electronic, western classical and oriental classical. He composed many scores for Hayao Miyazaki's movies (My Neighbour Totoro, Spirited Away, Laputa Castle In the Sky, Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind, Princess Mononoke,Howl's Moving Castle - Does that ring a bell anyone?). Apart from that, he also composed soundtracks for other mainstream movies which are renown in Japan. Surprisingly enough, not many listeners over this tiny part of the world know about him. (It seems that the narrow mindedness of the people here reflected in their music taste as well... :p)

If you ask me to describe his music, I would summarised in the following words:lush, gorgeous, breathtaking, melancholy, romantic and emotional. In fact, words alone cannot describe Joe's music. Describing his work with a few simple words will be doing a great disservice for this great composer. Personally, I think he composed some of the best musical piece ever since I heard of "Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini" by Sergei Rachmaninoff.

Perhaps I am those sentimental and sappy types, I find Joe's music emotional stirring and I can relate to them very well. Every note of his music captures the tone, the mood and the emotions of listener in perfect timing. It's hard for me to describe it, you just got to listen to his works and feel it.

Ever since then I have been embarking on a quest to search all over cyberspace for his music. Thankfully I found them and so for the last two days, I have been lazing the day away obsessively downloading Joe's music.

Enough of my rambling, here's two samples that I would like to share here to show you how beautiful his music is. Enjoy... :)

The Sound of George Jazz...

For the past 2 years, I hardly ever tune into the radio stations in NZ. That's because the airwaves here are dominated by those trashy music that's not even worth listening. Moreover they give me headache too.

It wasn't until a few days ago I discovered a little gem call George Jazz hosted by a brilliant guy called Mark Robinson (He's got a cute voice too...). I must say this guy has such an excellent taste when it comes to music selections and his programmes reflect different styles and tunes that never failed to impress me. Listening to his shows is like a breath of fresh air and restores me back to my sanity. I would definitely recommend you all to tune in to his shows, it's well worth listening...

The Same Old Moon...

One of the things I love during summer nights is I get to see the full moon from my bedroom window. Many times when I lie on the bed basking in the soothing moon glow, a beautiful song played in my mind. It is a very nice piece covered by Jerry Vale and the title of the song is "The Same Old Moon". Click here to listen to it, I am sure you will like it too.

The Same Old Moon

The same old moon
Is high above
The same old moon

That brought us love
No man made moon
Can take it's place
In outer space

When i'm with you
At close a day
The same old moon
Shows us the way

No mere machine
Can cast a spell
We know so well

Rockets may fly
And conquer the sky
But science can't bring us bliss

Time will evolve
But they'll never solve
The mystery of a kiss

When our hearts meet
And love's began
Sympathetic stars
Can make us one

Who lights our love
From up above
The same old moon

Rockets may fly
And conquer the sky
But science can't bring us bliss

Time will evolve
But they'll never solve
The mystery of a kiss...

When our hearts meet
And love's began
Sympathetic stars
Can make us one

Who lights our love...
From up above...
The same old moon...

The same old moon...

A trip down memory lane - Johnny Hates Jazz

I miss the music videos in the 80's. The music in those days sounded so much better than the ones we hear today. Nowadays, if you turn on the radio, all you get is those bloody rappers dominating the airwaves. Apart from croaking like toads, all they do is glorifying sex, drugs, violence, discrimination and hatred. Sheesh! Someone should teach them how to make good music...

Strike the pose...

An ultra-modern, glamorous and timeless piece from Madonna. Gosh, those male dancers are cute and sensual...

The Blow Monkeys - another music video...

I really do not have the mood to write anything tonight. Instead, I just post a dance number by The Blow Monkeys, hopefully it will make me feel more upbeat...
